Natalia Mendez

Natalia founded Women on Wheels in 2014, driven by her own experience of living with a spinal cord injury and the gaps she saw in support for women like her. She created WOW to be the kind of space she wished existed during her own journey: one that centers the voices of women with SCI, uplifts diverse experiences, and grows in direct response to the needs of its community.

A Message From Our Founder

In recognition for her work fostering social connection, inclusion, and well-being for women with spinal cord injuries, Natalia received a Citation of Merit from Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson, honoring her lasting impact on the lives of others and her dedication to building opportunities for joy, growth, and commmmunity.

Three women in wheelchairs, all wearing pink tie-dye Women on Wheels t-shirts, raise their arms in celebration at an outdoor event. They are smiling and surrounded by a crowd of people. Buildings and trees can be seen in the background.
