About the Event

We’re excited to launch the WOW Book Club, a new space for our community to come together through stories, conversation, and shared reflection.

Our first read is Disability Visibility: First-Person Stories from the Twenty-First Century, edited by the late Alice Wong — activist, writer, and founder of the Disability Visibility Project. This groundbreaking collection centers the voices of disabled people across identities and experiences, exploring themes of access, sexuality, independence, joy, and justice.

As we gather during Women’s History Month, we’re honored to begin with Alice’s work and continue her legacy by creating the kind of space she championed: one rooted in storytelling, connection, and disability pride.

For the first meeting, we encourage you to read the introduction and as much of the first three essays as you like. Here is the link to purchase: Disability Visability.

Whether you’ve read every page or are just curious to listen in, you’re…

Three women in wheelchairs, all wearing pink tie-dye Women on Wheels t-shirts, raise their arms in celebration at an outdoor event. They are smiling and surrounded by a crowd of people. Buildings and trees can be seen in the background.
