On June 9, 2022 Women on Wheels had a celebration as a memoriam for Mikki Marshall, Stephanie Brantley, and Kimberly Trenard, our fellow WOW Members that passed away not long ago. We held it near the bench dedicated to Mikki in Central Park. Mikki was an amazing woman, a powerhouse, and my spirit animal. Anything that was going on she always knew what to say and do. I would joke with her that I was going to raid her wardrobe. She was so stylish and always on point from head to toe. Kimberly AKA Kimmie, our beautiful butterfly that stung like a bee. I watched her blossom from a shy young girl to a strong, beautiful woman. She gained so much confidence as she volunteered in the Recreational Department of the of the inpatient spinal cord injury unit of Mount Sinai Hospital. From mentoring the newly injured to being a badass at sports and adaptive boxing, she could motivate anyone she met. Then there’s Stephanie Brantley aka Steph Ice, she was the big momma of our disability community as well as Harlem... SHE WAS HARLEM! I knew her since I was first injured. We overcame obstacles together, conquered Life Challenges together and shared so many good times. Her work as a basketball coach inspired so many people, including the kids in the neighborhood who looked up to her like we all did. This celebration was not a a day mourning, rather a day of rejoicing our sisters who we miss so much. We were blessed to know these amazing women, If they taught us anything it's that tomorrow isn't promised to anyone, so we should live each day like it's our last. WE LOVE YOU! 💙💚💛🧡❤️💜
